What is a Natural Hazards Mitigation Plan (NHMP)? A natural hazards mitigation plan (NHMP) identifies hazards, vulnerabilities, and risks facing a local, state, or tribal government, and prioritizes actions to reduce the risks. A NHMP has two core parts: a risk assessment and a mitigation strategy.
The Scioto County All-Natural Hazardous Migitigation Plan is required by federal law to be updated every five years. The plan is currently in the process of being updated under the direction of the consulting firm of Burton Planning Servies, LLC, of Westerville, Ohio. The update project is scheduled to be completed by August 29, 2025.
